  • At 56 degrees and with a 15 mph wind gusting at the start, Sunday's 19th annual Naples Daily News Half Marathon wasn't the coldest on record. It was close, though. The distinction belongs to the 1997 edition, which kicked off at 7:03 that morning 11 years ago with the mercury stuck on a frigid 36 degrees.   • Firefighters Jeff Morse (North Naples), Zach Mason and Rob Boisselle (Big Cypress) and Collier County sheriff Dan McDonald all ran and finished Sunday's race in full fireman's gear. The gesture was to raise awareness for this summer's inaugural Brotherhood Ride, a nine-day, 600-mile journey from Naples to Charleston, S.C. to benefit the families of the nine Charleston firefighters who were killed in a warehouse fire last June.   • Jill Basden has experienced plenty of Half Marathons over the last 10 years, just never from inside the ropes. Every other year, she's been in front of Trinity-By-the-Cove Episcopal Church on Galleon Drive, where her husband, Rev. Michael Basden, stands each year waiting to bless the passing runners with holy water. 'It's been several years that he's blessed the race,' Jill, 46, said before heading to the starting line, 'but it's his first year to bless me.'
