Philosopher Andrew Kavchak quotes Kant to explain a basic tenet of evolutionary humanism, which he embraced: "Treat another human being always as an end, never as just a means."

Pope John XXIII is also considered a humanist by Kavchak. "One must never confuse the error and the person who errs. The person who errs is always and above all a human being, and in every case retains his dignity as a human being." (Encyclical "Peace on Earth")

Since 1964 Kavchak was involved in a close and fruitful scholarly cooperation with psychiatrist Kazimierz Dabrowski. "My working together with Dabrowski resulted in the publication of numerous books and a large number of papers. The most important and fundamental, translated into French, Spanish, Polish, and Dutch is "Mental growth through positive disintegration,"" said Kavchak. In this book, the authors explain a paradoxical theory of human development, based on the premise that "good can follow from bad."
