Wildfire in Big Cypress

Alligator Alley is shutdown because of a brush fire raging north and south of I-75 between the 71 and 86 mile markers in Big Cypress National Preserve. The fire has grown from 1,000 to 15,100 acres in five days. Commuters' frustrations also have grown. The Alley is expected to be reopened on Monday morning, April 27, 2009.
