About 30 people attended the presentation and opportunity to exchange ideas on a planned Marco charter high school, as presented Wednesday by Islander Jane Watt and two other members of the newly formed non-profit Marco Island Discovery Center, Inc., which is designing a complex of which the proposed school will be one of three components.
Islanders learn about the bigger plans surrounding the initiative for a Marco Island charter high school June 25 at Marco Island Charter Middle School and at a Planning Board meeting Friday. Plans now include the Marco Island Academy as well as a summer eco-adventure camp and Marco Island Discovery Center, a center for sustainable living and education of all ages. Marco Island Discovery Center is also the name of the non-profit working on developing a charter high school on the Island. Finding land is the next challenge.
