Stable hand Chrissie Busby moves horses at the Riverside Livery Denny, central Scotland after a night of heavy snowfall. Motorists were stranded and hundreds of schools closed today as the United Kingdom continued to shiver in the grip of freezing temperatures and heavy snow. Forecasters warned there was no sign of a let-up in the icy conditions, with several more centimetres/inches of snow continuing to fall in the North East and parts of eastern Scotland over coming days. The rest of the UK will also be affected, with snow moving south, and only parts of western Scotland and Northern Ireland free of snow showers by Tuesday afternoon, forecasters said.
