Bucwheats, an Al Landers restaurant which he had to spell this way to avoid copyright and other problems, eventually was bought out and became Michelbob's ribs restaurant on North Collier Boulevard.

In 1985, Al Landers opened his first Marco restaurant, Big Al's Hoagy House, and the adjoining Sports Pub he opened soon after.
