  • Visitors take care of each others' pets at Canine Cove on Marco. Island resident Sue Darrow, and Emma Lukowski, 7, visiting from Lancaster, Penn., take turns operating the drinking fountain for other people's dogs to lap up some water between spurts of playing at the dog runs.
  • Introductions: Besides a few awkward hellos exchanged between dogs, visitors to Marco's dog park, Canine Cove, report no serious scuffles at the fenced-in runs, which opened in December 2009.

  • Sisters Emma Lukowski, 7, and Sarah Lukowski, 5, visit Marco's dog park from Pennsylvania and enjoy playing with all the dogs, including their own, which got to join them on vacation for the first time now that the dog park is open.
  • Sometimes it's a dog-eat-dog world, but so far, not at Canine Cove, Marco's new dog park. Worries of frequent dog fights and problems did not come to fruition in the past couple months since the dog runs opened in December of last year, park officials and visitors report.
