Two out of three of Mackle Park's Royal Poincianas can no longer be saved. One tree remains standing after the city cut down the others Wednesday without a forewarning to the residents' who saw them planted decades ago.

The southern blooming trees of Mackle Park were removed by the city without warning Wednesday. The park's neighbors say they learned of the Royal Poinciana's fate when they were startled by the roaring of chainsaws.
