The blooms of the Royal Poinciana were the subject of many tourists' and residents' photographs. However, two of three trees at Mackle Park were chopped down Wednesday to the dismay of several neighbors.
The southern blooming trees of Mackle Park were removed by the city without warning Wednesday. The park's neighbors say they learned of the Royal Poinciana's fate when they were startled by the roaring of chainsaws.
