  • FIGG, the design firm for the new Judge S.S. Jolley Bridge span to be built by Johnson Brothers for southbound traffic to Marco Island, is including this viewing deck for pedestrians in the designs. Construction is to begin in mid-January on the approximate $25 million federal stimulus project which will expand the existing two-lane, one-span bridge, to a two-span, four-lane bridge.
  • Marco officials get their wishes on the design of the foot of the Judges S.S. Jolley Bridge. Changes from Florida Department of Transportation's original plans will increase landscaping on the Island side of the Jolley Bridge; increase beach access on the southeast side of the bridge and leave room for the city's planned linear park.
