  • Marco resident Jay Santiago is one of only a few Marco residents to watch the canvassing board review the ballots in the too-close-to-call Marco election Tuesday night. Santiago asks a logistical question of the board after it's determined that a recount is needed because the voting machine counted only a nine-vote difference between two candidates in the mail-in election.

It comes down to a recount at the Collier County Supervisor of Elections Office Tuesday night after the canvassing board has reviewed about 36 'questionable ballots' and will be reviewing several more on Thursday, they say.
