Promise, a wolfdog at the Shy Wolf Sanctuary, is considered an ambassador for the sanctuary. Former sanctuary volunteer Susan Cabot Rather died and left $120,000 to the sanctuary. Sanctuary board of directors used the money in April to purchase 20-acres of land on Dove Tree Street in the Golden Gate Estates to be the future site of the sanctuary. Sanctuary currently occupies two and a half acres off of White Boulevard. The sanctuary needs to raise money to clear the land and build a new facility on it. Lexey Swall/Staff
