However the Marco Island Marriott gave locals an opportunity to do just that with a special offer exclusive to Florida residents. Five huge screens graced the Southwest Florida skyline providing the 250 guests with a crystal clear view of the action on the field. The package which included a guest room and all the beer, wine and wings you could eat and drink during the big game was attended by a mostly Naples and Marco Island residents. "We really focused on marketing to the Naples and Marco Island communities," said Director of Sales & Marketing Robert Pfeffer. "This effort to provide a Staycation to locals started with our 1st Annual Beach Music Festival." The Festival saw over 3,500 locals gather for an all day series of entertainment on Marriott's beach last year. It began with a skimboard competition, best burger in Paradise competition, five different bands entertained the crowds and it culminated with a spectacular fireworks display. Pfeffer said "With both of these events we've woven in a charitable component. Between the two events we were able to raise close to $50,000 for local charities!" Next weekend the hotel is doing something equally unique and something you can rarely do anywhere in the country. The Marriott will be serving Valentines dinner (filet and lobster tail) in a romantic setting on the beach for two people. As with the Super Bowl party, this offer is only available to Florida residents and has been marketed locally.
