Attendees not only learned about the sawfish but got to touch the "saw" while learning about its imperiled status. All sawfish sightings & catches should be reported to Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission at www.myfwc.com. Photo by Gordon Campbell/Special to the Daily News.
The imperiled species with the strange saw for an upper jaw was the featured species today as Kids Free Fridays and Summer of Sharks continue. As usual families enjoyed a story time slide show by Deborah Woods, scientific explanation by Dave Graff and the opportunity to handle rare teeth and jaws of several shark species including the saw or rostrum of a specimen confiscated by Florida Fish and Wildlife.
