Tommie Barfield Elementary students wore their art on their leaves on Saturday, when 125 fifth graders’ paintings on palm fronds were displayed at the Marco Island Historical Museum on “Frond Day.” Under the direction of artist Heidi Saletko, the children decorated the dried fronds, painting them with panthers, alligators, turtles, and fish. An additional element was added to the “Frond Zoo” with a visit by real zoo animals, three month-old lion cub Shaumbay and tiger cub Subali Czar, from the Kowiachobee Center.
“The kids loved this activity,” said art teacher Kathy Anderson.
“We now collect palm fronds,” said Kelly Creedon, mother of student Kaitlin Creedon. “We now have a bag of fronds in the trunk.”

While petting cubs may look innocent it almost always leads to abuse. Find out more about why it is SO wrong to allow public contact with big cats cubs here http://bigcatrescue.org/abuse-issues/... If people were to see the facilities where this cub lives, I think they would be appalled.
