On Thursday July 12, 2012 the rock band marked the 50th anniversary of their first live performance at the Marquee club in London. The band played their first show back in 1962, under the name The Rollin' Stones, hastily chosen as the band's name from a song by their blues hero Muddy Waters.

It's been 50 years since Jagger played his first gig with a band called the Rolling Stones. And as they enter their sixth decade, more live shows are on the way. Here's a look back at the band's evolution.
