Competitors, young and older, race to the top of the Judge S.S. Jolley Bridge as the haze begins to clear on Saturday morning for the Jolley Be Good 5K Run/Walk. The runners ran into a heavy wind that had even the best competitors struggling. The good news was they ran back down to finish.

  • Roger LaLonde Staff Chistina Elliott doubled her pleasure in the Jolley Be Good 5k Run/Walk on Saturday. She ran while pushing her children, Mason and Grace, up the steep and windy Judge S. S. Jolley Bridge. Elliott placed 11th in her 35-to-39 age group.
  • Youth won out at the Jolley Be Good 5K Run/Walk on Saturday on Marco Island. Overall winners, Rosie Poling of Marco Island and Ken Leidal of Downingtown, Pa., were among 303 entrants that traversed the Judge S.S. Jolley Bridge as part of the unique event, a fundraiser to support the Marco Islnad Parks & Recreation programs.
  • Roger LaLonde Staff Sisters, Tiffany and Kate Breuler, fly to the finish line in the Jolley Be Good 5K Run/Walk on Marco Island Saturday. Just one-tenth of a second separated the two, with Tiffany, 8, edging Kelly, 10, by an eyelash.
  • A girl has to look good at the finish line. Maggie Poling, 5, adjusts her head ban as she is escorted by her mom Patty and brother Mickey across the line at the Jolley Be Good 5K Run/Walk on Saturday. Ellie ran the 3.1-mile course, including up and down the step Judge S.S. Jolley Bridge, in 35:01.
  • Roger LaLonde Staff Ken Leidel of Downingtown, Pa., already has a a big lead as he charges up the Judge S.S. Jolley Bridge into a stiff wind in winning the Jolley Be Good 5K Run/Walk on Saturday. Leidel ran the 3.1-mile distance in 17:28.9.
  • Marco Island's Brandon Black heads a group of runners going up the Judge S.S. Jolley Bridge on Saturday in the Jolley Be Good 5K Run/Walk on Marco Island. Black won his 15-to-19 age group.

  • Christy Thorstenson, left and Lauren Hanscom, a one-two punch on the Lely track team, shined in their 15-to-19 agre group on Saturday in the Jolley Be Good 5K Run/Walk on Marco Island. Hanscom won and Thorstenson was second, just one-tenth of a second behind.
  • Marco Island's Paul Tateo waves as he jaunts up the Judge S.S. Jolley Bridge on Saturday in the Jolley Be Good 5K Run/Walk event to support Marco Island Parks & Recreation programs and special events.
  • Travis Barry and son Kevin, 10, have experience in running over the Jolley Bridge and it helped Kevin win the 10-and-under competition, while also edging his dad in the Jolley Be Good 5K Run/Walk on Saturday. Kevin's time was 22:26.5 and Travis' time was 22:28.2.
