Having an organized kitchen is all about creating an efficient space that fits the needs of the homeowner. Before starting the makeover, the limited counter space had been cluttered with everything and anything that didn't have a "home." Now the counter, except a neat and tidy coffee station, is clutter-free and pristine.

Now the counter, except a neat and tidy coffee station, is clutter-free and pristine.

  • After: Carefully hung on the inside cabinet door, taking into account the pullouts, these Command-brand Clear Utensil Hooks were the perfect storage solution for Cathy's measuring cups and spoons.
  • In the past, the corner counter was littered with an assortment of cutting boards, trivets; a mixer and scale; empty storage containers; potatoes, bread and even a mini trash can, not to mention a coffee maker and several unsightly containers of creamer, sugar and sweetener.
  • By adding more shelving as well as several clear plastic containers, it's easy to keep the pantry under control, which makes grocery shopping easier.
  • With the addition of cabinet pullouts, it's easier to see and access the pots and pans the family uses the most.

  • A designated space was established for the dishes, which were no longer forced to share a cabinet with condiments.
  • Spices that once shared a "home" with the dishes were moved into the cabinet above the coffee station, which was outfitted with a Lazy Susan. The chafing dishes, mixing bowls and platters that once filled the space were moved to other, more accessible cabinets.
