Catch of the Day: Oct. 25, 2012

Leo Sutera, of Marco Island, caught this 21-inch trout this past week, one of many large fish. Leo was fishing with friend, Jim Kenney, also of Marco Island. Leo caught the fish on the outside flats south of Marco Island. He was using a cork and shrimp in four feet of water.

  • Tibe Larson, of Estero, and Gregg Bedell, of Bonita Springs, with a 46-pound dolphin.  They caught it on a recent fishing trip to Marathon in the Keys.
  • Eight-year-old Lydia Smith, of Naples, caught this keeper grouper off Naples using live shrimp.
  • Tate Reilly, 7, caught a Jack Crevelle fish using live shrimp.  It was a real fight!
  • Recreational fisherman Gregg Bedell, owner of Captain Ed's Charter Boats, caught this red grouper and mangrove snapper while fishing with friends 28 miles offshore from Bonita Beach.
  • Ray Hapanowitz, of Naples, caught this beautiful 21-inch trout with his friend Jim Kenney, of Marco Island. Ray caught a number of large trout south of Marco Island on the flats. He was jigging a white jig to match the large quantities of glass minnows the trout were feeding on .

  • Jim Kenney, of Marco Island, caught this 35-inch snook south of Marco Island on a chartreuse jig. Great to see the snook population come back!
  • Leo Sutera, of Marco Island, caught this 25-inch redfish while fishing with Jim Kenney, also of Marco Island. Leo caught the fish on a shrimp under a cork. He was fishing the Mangrove edges south of White Horse Key. Many reds were caught in the slot.
  • Adam May caught this redfish while fishing off a dock on the bay side using live shrimp.
