In a battle for the ball, Marco island Academy's Peter Servente (4) wins over St. John Neumann's Zach Mass. The interception stopped a Celtics touchdown drive and Servente ran the ball back to the Celtics 20. On the next play Nick Dotson scored the Academy's historic first touchdown in the second quarter. The point-after kick by Servente gave the Manta Rays their fist-ever lead in a game, 7-6 at halftime. The Celtics JV team rallied, then held on in the second half to win, 18-15 against the first-year Manta Rays.

There were many firsts for the Marco Island Academy football team, but it came up short for its first win, losing to St. John Neumann's JV team, 18-15.
