  • A firefighter walks past the doorway inside a burned home during an investigation into a house fire off Golden Gate Boulevard in Golden Gate Estates on Sept. 16, 2010. Because of the size of the home, fire crews from Golden Gate, North Naples, Big Corkscrew and Immokalee were at the scene Thursday morning, dividing the home into sections to investigate. Todd Olson, fire marshal of Big Corkscrew, said that they had more than 20 investigators and fire personnel at the scene, digging through the rubble caused by the roof collapsing so they could determine the cause of the blaze. Investigators estimate the damage to property was between $500 and $1 million. By the time the first responding firefighters arrived on the scene two minutes after they were notified, much of the house was already engulfed, said Nolan Sapp, assistant fire chief of the Golden Gate Fire District. Sapp said the fire had been burning 'for some time' before they received the call. Greg Kahn/Staff
