Description
Quite frankly, somehow the Clock is easy to ignore, despite the fact that it has occupied highway frontage at 670 U.S. 41 N. for at least 30 years. (It sort of resembles those trusty but nondescript chains like Ho Jo — but without the orange roof — that popped up along interstates during the 1960s and 70s.) Oh, night owls know it's there and always open 24/7. Amazingly, according to longtime district manager Paul LaRoche, closings can be counted on one hand. If you want dinner for breakfast or vice versa, not to worry. Your main problem will be deciding what to order. Selections run the gamut: salads, hot melts, sandwich specialties, beef burgers (plus soy-based Gardenburgers), appetizers, dinner entrees and a world of breakfast options. There's even a whole page dedicated to "senior specials" — seniors being defined as anyone 55 or older. The home fries are a big draw. If they don't come with whatever you order, get yourself a side for $2. The spuds come uniformly sliced, perfectly seasoned and cooked so the edges came out crispy brown, yet centers remained soft and creamy. And here's something else. The Clock boasts honest-to-gosh counter service. Plop down on a stool and relive "Happy Days." Assorted pastries are nestled under the glass domes of footed cake stands.
