Description
The Holocaust Museum of Southwest Florida grew out of an exhibit created by students and their teachers at Golden Gate Middle School. Its purpose is to promote tolerance by teaching the history and lessons of the Holocaust. The museum features artifacts from the Nazi's "Final Solution," including prison camp uniforms, gold fillings taken from victims and arm bands, including one that identified the owner as an exempted employee at the factory made famous in the film "Schindlers List." There are photographs, posters, documents and a lending library. Docent-led tours are available during regular hours. Group tours are available by appointment.
