Description
If you need an expert on just about anything, look for him or her at Johnny's Diner.
Some things are pretty obvious on perusing Johnny's lunch crowd. Working people love this place. There must be some good food and plenty of it. And, it might be a good time to try and drive someplace in Naples.
With classic black and white tile flooring, red vinyl and chrome accents and Formica tabletops reminiscent of the early White Castles or Frisch's Big Boys, Johnny's lives up to its name as the "Best '50s Style Diner in Naples." The walls are line with period car replicas and old 45-rpm records. The only thing missing is some good rock 'n 'roll in the background.
Johnny's lunch menu proffers a variety of hamburgers, sandwiches and melts as well as homemade soups, scrumptious salads, tantalizing appetizers, delightful desserts and the obligatory shakes and sodas.
Johnny's special Cuban menu has intriguing entrees on it including Cuban-style Pot Roast stuffed with bacon and Spanish sausage ($9.95); an eight-ounce Palomilla Steak ($8.95) smothered in grilled onions; and a quarter chicken fricasseed in garlic, onions, peppers and tomato sauce ($6.95).
Don't miss the honest-to-gosh, thick-cut French fries — pommes de terre Pont Neuf — just like you used to get at the drive-in up north.
