Description: At Konrad's Seafood and Grill Room, the artistry, hospitality and culinary talent of a classic European Chef shines through. Konrad Mayerhofer was born in Bavaria and attended culinary school in Germany. After working in Stuttgart, and some of the finest hotels in Switzerland for five years, Konrad went to sea and guided the culinary compass on several cruise ships. He has looked after diners as the executive chef in New York's famous Essex House Hotel and came to Marco in 1982 as the executive chef of the Marriott. He opened the Bavarian Inn in 1984 and Konrad's Seafood and Grill Room in January of 1992. Konrad's shrimp are hand-picked off the docks in Fort Myers Beach, and all dishes prepared at Konrad's contain only natural ingredients. A noncholesterol vegetable oil, coupled with the European emphasis on natural and nonpreservative cookery, insures the freshest and highest quality entrées from the land and sea. The beef is aged in-house; the salmon and ribs smoked with time-honored tradition; and the specialty beef sauerbraten is marinated for three days. All entrées are served with freshly baked rolls and a variety of whipped butters. Konrad's pretzel bread is a specialty that should not be missed and the salad bar at Konrad's is the probably the most extensive on Marco Island. Konrad's offers a "Bar/Appetizer" menu that offers everything from Scallops Verde for $8 to possibly the best meal-deal on Marco — Konrad's famous Prime Rib Sandwich for $9.95. The grilled burger is freshly ground beef served on a toasted kaiser roll for $7.95. Add french fries for $2, and this burger-and-fries combo will certainly reflect a hands-on, old-world chef that never overlooks even the smallest detail.
