Meson Ole gives little hint of the culinary delights found within. The ambiance is a step above typical chain-restaurant Mexican, tending to a classier vibe, with dark colors and tasteful art prints, bric-a-brac and fake but not garish armor on the walls. The deep blue carpet is odd but good for hiding stains. The free chips are good but the bland salsa is a definite weak spot. Salsa should come in two flavors - hot and hotter. Ask for a habanero version. The extensive menu has options for every lover of Mexican and Spanish cuisine. Standouts are the excellent paella and any of a number of combinations of beef, chicken or shrimp fajitas. Would-be imbibers should skip the margaritas and head straight for the sangria. The dessert menu is heaven for a sweets lover. Try the sopapillas, pastries which come drizzled with honey and decorated with a scoop of ice cream. The delicious Mexican fried ice cream has got to be hands-down one of the most decadent confections in town. Service is good, although the "always made fresh pledge" can make the 20-minute wait for food seem like an eternity.
