Description
Panera Bread calls each of its quaint takes on an upscale fast-food restaurant a "bakery-cafe." The focus is ostensibly on the bread, and while the sandwiches aren't bad, the atmosphere is really the attraction. The menu is extensive for what's basically upscale fast food. Basic sandwiches will set you back $4.99, with gourmet versions (on artisan bread and with multi-syllabic cheese) for $6.39, while a panini is about $6. There's pizza for $9 and salads from $5-$7. Not that it's ever really cold here, but adventurous diners can opt to have any of the soups of the day served in "bread bowl" — which is a giant roll with a hollow cut out and replaced with soup. It looked delicious. For coffee-lovers who are anti-Starbucks, there's a page of caffeinated favorites in hot, iced and frozen varieties, as well as the ever present chai and green teas. Early birds will be glad to know that breakfast service begins at 6 a.m. The Coconut Point mall is something of a destination for shoppers and it is a relief to find an affordable eating place with comfortable seating both inside and out (the huge outdoor space has plenty of shade as well) and tasty victuals. It's no coincidence that the Starbucks is right next door. There's also free WiFi. All in all, Panera Bread is a nice spot to rest, grab a snack or to just hang out.
