Description
Shirley Street Antiques Mall in Naples has been open for history hunting for 12 years. The mall is located inside a warehouse and entering the front door, the size of the place is deceiving. There is one long, central pathway that goes straight to the back of the building, but other passages off this aisle lead you to different "rooms" — partitioned dealers' booths — that feels like you're part of a home tour, exploring separate areas of the house, but without the guide. You can take your time and you really need to. Thomas Ramsey and Richard Gazzerro are the co-owners of this antiques extravaganza. They have owned the marketplace for five years. They host 40 individual dealers and more than 200 consigners. There are theme booths, such as country-style elements, furniture, Depression glass, pottery, jewelry, toys, postcards, paintings and more. In the rear of the store is the largest World War II military antiques store in Florida. Proprietor Homer Helter has scores of medals, guns, uniforms, photographs, model military vehicles and planes, stickers, flags, and on and on. The owners of the antiques mall purchase their items from other stores/dealers, estate sales, flea markets and trips up north to visit family.
