American comfort food pretty much revolves around meat. It could be fried chicken in the South or barbecue pork in Kansas City or hamburgers pretty much everywhere. We tend to feel good after eating a little flesh.
This is the operating thesis for Ted's Montana Grill. While they're an eco-friendly chain (Ted's uses only recyclable products, such as paper straws and glass bottles of soda), they have only one vegetarian option (a choice of four side items). It's not really geared toward folks who don't like a big slab of meat.
And Ted's does meat pretty darn well. Bison, beef and chicken are the main staples with a little seafood thrown in for good measure.
