</title><link>http://www.marconews.com/news/2009/oct/11/editorial-marco-island-city-council-why-wait-inves/?partner=RSS</link><description>By now everyone knows how Marco Island City Council members deliberated in closed-door session on the touchy matter of where boaters should be allowed to moor. We also know, thanks to Florida open records laws that require transcripts of such meetings to be made public later, some members of council discussed strategies that may have contested the spirit, if not the letter, of those same public-access safeguards. Now, what to do?

Whatever those details — or blanks — may be, the bottom line tends to be the same: when Florida’s open government or Sunshine Laws are set aside, good judgment suffers.

</title><link>http://www.marconews.com/news/2009/jan/29/bill-green-tract-k-high-school-and-lely/?partner=RSS</link><description>I’ve received quite a few comments concerning the proposal for Tract K — a solar farm for Collier Schools and a community athletic field.
A few individuals, who’d really like to see a high school there, are sad the dream may be dying.
Before I throw in my two cents, let me make a couple of things clear: I have no problem with the current plan; and I’m not against Marco Island getting a high school. In fact, I think Collier County should consider a performing arts high school for the island — one that could attract students from all over. The limited size of Tract K, or the like, would be perfect for a school that doesn’t require much in the way of athletics and Marco Island is the perfect community for such a school.

A mother had submitted a photo of her young son getting ready to go into the pool. He had two buck teeth, a little fro and was completely decked out from head to toe in colorful swimming gear.

It has four legs and tail – a dog! My kids and I visited the Naples Humane Society in Naples on Saturday – just to look – and found a wonderful little pooch!
