Biography
An Arkansas native, Dana is glad to be back in Florida, where he served as sports editor in St. Augustine and spent five years with the Tampa Tribune. He grew up in Crestview. He previously served as the sports editor of the Morning News of Northwest Arkansas, that state's second-largest newspaper, while directing coverage and writing columns from all Razorbacks football and basketball games for five seasons. Before that, Dana covered Indiana University and Purdue men's basketball and football for Knight Ridder. He has covered the firings of former IU coach Bob Knight and former Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson, the 1999 Elite Eight, several other NCAA Tournament games, the 2000 NBA Finals, title bouts of Roy Jones Jr. and Bernard Hopkins and several NCAA bowl games and NFL playoff matchups. When not at his second home -- Florida Gulf Coast University, his primary beat -- Dana enjoys trips to the beach, Stevie Tomato's Sports Bar and playing bad golf. A Razorbacks fan who is glad he no longer has to be objective about the Hogs, Dana is a 1993 graduate of Ouachita Baptist University, which, he is proud to say, counts Hall of Fame safety Cliff Harris (Cowboys) among its alumni. His degree is in communications with a minor in physical education.-
