Peter Thomas, 89, right, was thanked for his service as both a World War II veteran and a longtime narrator at the 10th Annual Honor the Free Press event, put on by the Naples Press Club and the Marine Corps League of Naples at the Hilton Naples on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Thomas is seen receiving a personalized and autographed copy of Tom Brokaw's book, 'The Greatest Generation,' as well as other gifts from the event's chairman, Mike Trephan. A sold-out crowd of 300 listened to speeches from several community leaders but were awed at Thomas' personal and moving tales, told in his unique, smooth baritone voice.
