Reynolds, owner of Kathleen’s Hair Studio, said the club donated the money raised from the first membership and dinner dance it held at San Marco Catholic Church on Feb. 2.

  • Rhoda Rad, left, and Father Pat Boyhan were stars of last year’s event. Judy Perez, brainchild of the event, thanked them and the other stars from last year, Sandy Franchino, Kira Krumm, Arturo Perez and Rick Popoff.
  • Tammy Clemens, right, spoke with Gary Rosen, master of ceremonies, at the kick-off party. Molly Cook, left, and Jim Clemens also spoke with Rosen when they arrived at the event. Jim and Tammy Clemens own Modern Steps School of Dance in Naples and are sponsoring the Dancing with the Starz event. They also provide the professional dance lessons. Cook is a dance instructor at the studio.

  • The Marco Island Strummers performed lively and patriotic music in the courtyard after the presentation on Saturday.
  • Gail Cacciola and Lisa Hammond watched the Presentation of the Fleet. Cacciola is on the yacht club's board of directors and Hammond is the secretary and treasurer for the Marco Island Strummers. Cacciola said the Presentation of the Fleet is a very traditional event.
  • Indy Idol was part of the day cruising fleet in the Presentation of the Fleet on Saturday.
  • Passengers looked on that were on the Hummingbird boat in the sailing fleet division.
  • Southern Skies was one of the boats in the sailing fleet of the Marco Island Yacht Club Fleet. There were three divisions represented on Saturday the day cruising fleet the sailing fleet and the extended cruising fleet.
  • Jim Lake, from Wesley United Methodist Church, Commodore Larry Kelly and Vice Commodore Dean Heard on the radio watched the Presentation of the Fleet from the Marco Island Yacht Club on Saturday. Lake gave a blessing of the fleet.
  • One choice at The Chefs’ Express is the chicken salad croissant served with chips and a chef’s treat.
  • Annie Feinman has been the owner/chef of The Chefs’ Express since it opened two years ago.
  • Janina Birtolo performed in a one-woman historical drama, Remember the Ladies, at the Marco Island Yacht Club on Wednesday. The performance told the story of Abigail Adams, wife of the second U.S. president and mother of the sixth U.S. president. It was the fourth performance in the Marco Island Foundation for the Arts women in history series.
  • Greusel accompanied Mike Miller as he debuted a song he wrote for his wife. The song was an example of a tag line being used in a ballad.
  • Craig Greusel sang ballads while informing the audience about ballads in The Art of the Balladier on Friday at The Esplanade. This was the premiere event by The Marco Island Foundation for the Arts in cooperation with The Esplanade.
  • Helga and George Godfrey and Joe and Mary Ann Cassidy attended the Marco Men's Club Sweetheart Ball at the Marco Island Marriott Resort on Friday. George Godfrey and Joe Cassidy were co-chairs of the event that honors the women in their lives.
  • Tanya Beeler as Gloria Desmond talks with Eric Stumpf as Harold Busby during rehearsal for Jewel Thieves. The play will run through March 11.
  • Daniel Kimball Jr. as Alfred Blunt in the Marco Players Theater's new play opening Wednesday talks with Tegan DeClark as Lady Fortescue during rehearsal for Jewel Thieves.
  • Shell jewelry — made by the club — was sold at the fashion show. All proceeds benefit the club's scholarship fund.
  • Kay Vandenhaute modeled a formal outfit from Tonga's Designs. There were 135 women at the Marco Island Shell Club's fashion show.

  • Lois Thome co-anchors Channel 5 WINK News at 5, 6 and 11 p.m. She was the guest speaker at the Marco Island Woman's Club luncheon on Feb. 7.
  • Another monotype printmaking technique Taylor showed was the hinged paper technique.
  • Taylor also demonstrated the subtractive monotype printmaking technique at the demonstration Sunday. She said there are about 10 different techniques. She will be teaching a class of monotype printmaking for all levels called Printing Without a Press in March at the Art League.
  • Cathy Taylor demonstrated the additive monotype printmaking technique at the Art League of Marco Island on Sunday. The demonstration was held before the reception of Some Day My Prints Will Come, a fine-art exhibit on display until Feb. 28.
