Biography
Marty Albertus brings nearly 25 years of newspaper experience to the Daily News in his position as assistant presentation editor. Born and raised in Iowa and a graduate of the University of South Dakota, Marty, like so many others, eventually found his way to Florida after spending years working for newspapers in the cold of the Midwest (with one detour to the Deep South).
His varied newspaper history includes positions as Sports Editor at the Mitchell Daily Republic, Mitchell, S.D.; graphic artist at the Portsmouth Daily Times, Portsmouth, Ohio; Entertainment Editor, the Clarion-Ledger, Jackson, Miss.; Publisher of the Oxford Press, Oxford, Ohio; and Editor, the Free Press, Marathon, Florida. (There are few jobs better than that of a newspaper editor in the Florida Keys!)
As assistant presentation editor, Marty's job is to help create a concise, interesting newspaper with eye-catching photos and headlines and clear graphic elements that will draw readers into stories, and educate, entertain and challenge them on a daily basis.
In his spare time, Marty enjoys reading, playing "old guy" tennis, movies, his crazy cat, and getting out as much as possible to enjoy Naples' beautiful sunsets on the Gulf.
