Biography
I guess you could say I've always wanted to be a journalist... I can remember pretending to be April O'Neal covering an assignment with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles nearby. Somehow in the midst of screaming neighborhood boys I managed to come up with stories and share them with my audience. My love for journalism grew while I was in high school. I joined the newspaper staff during my junior year. I filled the news and features editor position. We were two weeks into our first issue when I decided on journalism as a career. My path and goals have changed over the years, but my overall objective has remained the same.
I graduated from South Ripley High School in 1999. I enrolled in a junior college that offered opportunities to gain experience in the newspaper industry. During my second year at Vincennes University I was nominated to be editor in chief. I received several honors at VU including Journalist of the Year in 2001. I also explored the broadcasting field by taking some introductory classes. I even had my own morning radio show. I transferred to Ball State University in 2002. I held numerous editorial positions including editor in chief and earned several awards on the local and national level. I joined the Naples News Media Group as the presentation editor of The Banner in February 2007. I was promoted to associate editor in the spring of 2008. I was named the grassroots editor in January of 2011. In that position I'm responsible for overseeing the community publications The Banner, Collier Citizen and Marco Eagle. I also play a key role with gathering content from the community.Hobbies: Dancing, shopping, traveling, vacations, fashion, spending time at the beach, photography and cooking.
