1. ‘Everbody’s Irish’: Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day early on Marco
The Sons and Daughters of Erin will host its 10th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade and Hooley at Veterans Community Park on Sunday.
Festivities at the park begin at 10 a.m. and include arts and crafts, food, beer, wine and much more. The parade begins at 1 p.m. down Bald Eagle Drive, and Tim McCoy, owner of The Speakeasy, is this year’s Grand Marshall.
Kathleen Reynolds, founder of the Sons and Daughters of Erin, said the parade will be a “can’t miss” event for everyone. “You don’t even have to be Irish to enjoy the St. Patrick’s Day parade,” she said. “In fact, everybody’s Irish that day!”
2. Final Brushes & Paint is Saturday
The final Brushes & Paint Outdoor Art Show, sponsored by Marco Island Foundation for the Arts, is scheduled from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., Saturday, March 4 at at the Marco Lutheran Church, 525 N. Collier Boulevard, Marco Island.
These shows provide local artists with the opportunity to show and sell their artwork. New artists as well as experienced artists who use oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, mixed media and pen and ink are welcome to participate.

3. Calusa Garden Club’s ‘Flora and fauna’
Calusa Garden Club’s annual public flower show has expanded its reach for 2017, according to the event chairperson Jackie Purvis. The two-day event, to be held Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6, will include displays of Florida-friendly plants, artistic floral design, and photographs of animals, birds, plants and landscapes of our Southwest Florida region.
The event, which is open to the public, will take place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Marco Center for the Arts, 1010 Winterberry Drive, Marco Island.
On Saturday, March 5, Connie Lowery and Jackie Purvis will demonstrate flower arranging. At 1 p.m, the designers will present “Tricks of the Trade.” At 2:30 p.m., the designers will present “Designing for Dining.” On Sunday, March 6, Donna Kay will demonstrate techniques for container gardening at 1 p.m.
Throughout the show, raffle tickets will be available for three bountiful baskets of wine, tea sets, and goodies.
Calusa Garden Club meets the second Monday of each month at Wesley United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 350 S. Barfield Drive, Marco Island. Business meetings begin at 12:30 p.m. and programs begin at 1:15 p.m.
