1. Buy your tickets now: Marco Police Foundation to host annual rib cook-off

The Marco Police Foundation will host its annual rib cook-off at the Marco Island Brewery between noon and 6 p.m., Saturday, April 22. The event will feature live music, raffles, food and fun. Rib judging will be at 5 p.m. Tickets are $25 and include a full served meal. “Everyone looks forward to this event,” said Marco Police Foundation President Dick

Adams. “Not only will we have some of the best lip-smacking ribs in Southwest Florida, but folks will be helping support the great work of the Foundation.”

“The police officers on Marco Island are directly responsible for keeping safe and secure,” added Foundation Vice President Bill Young. “The Rib Cook-Off is a great way to support them while having some fun too.”

Only two hundred tickets will be available for this event. Those wishing to attend should call Dick Adams at 285-9683, Curt Koon at 389-4511 or Joe Granda at 389-2823 for tickets.

2. Opens Wednesday: ‘Heaven Help Me’

“Heaven Help Me” by Joseph Simonelli; directed by Richard Joyce. On stage April 19 through May 7, Wednesday through Saturday, 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.

3. This weekend: Taste of Marco

The Greater Marco Family YMCA is excited to announce the 27th Annual Taste of Marco to be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, April 23 at the Esplanade.

Enjoy tasty treats offered by the area’s finest restaurants and dance to the music of vocalist Marc Kircher and featured act, the ever popular Greg Miller Band, with a mix of R&B and Motown hits.

There also will be 2 50/50 raffles and awards to restaurants participating including People’s Choice, Best Decorated and Best Theme. Beer, wine and beverage sales will also be available. Admission is $5 for adults and kids 12 and under free with paid adult admission. All purchases at event will be by tickets which can be purchased in $1 increments.

Restaurant spaces are still available. If you would like your restaurant to participate contact Steve Reynolds at 239-285-6785 or 239-394-3144, ext. 0, or 105 by Monday, April 10. Proceeds benefit the Greater Marco Family YMCA financial assistance programs.
