The new Mary Poppins musical received a warm reception at Disney's D23, where the film's footage debuted. Emily Blunt described the audience to ET as, 'joyful.' USA TODAY

Emily Blunt is looking rather supercalifragilisticexpialidocious in the first photo from the Mary Poppins sequel.

Mary Poppins Returns, now filming in London for a Christmas 2018 release, features Blunt as the magical nanny played by Julie Andrews in the 1964 Disney film, and the retro clothes she's wearing are — dare we say — poppin'. Blunt is missing Mary's usual umbrella but she is clad in royal blue ruffled overcoat, light blue gloves and a maroon hat with a bird on it. (Guessing that's a faux animal but this is Disney so anything's possible.) And the gaudy bag completes the look fittingly.

Directed and produced by Rob Marshall (Chicago), the new Mary Poppins catches up with the Banks children all grown up in 1930s London, with Michael Banks (Ben Whishaw) needing Mary's services yet again after a personal loss. She teams with street lamplighter Jack (Lin-Manuel Miranda) to bring joy and wonder back to their lives, plus introduces Mary's eccentric cousin Topsy, played by Meryl Streep.
