Jennifer Lawrence, fresh off her role in mother!, is taking on a new part in Red Sparrow, which reunites her with Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence.
Fittingly, the Red Sparrow trailer dropped on the ninth anniversary of the Suzanne Collins dystopian novel that would help catapult Lawrence to superstardom.
The Oscar winner plays Dominika Egorova, a prima ballerina who dances to provide for her mother. After learning she can no longer dance due to an injury, she joins the "Sparrow School," a program that trains intelligent individuals to fight with their bodies and minds.
"They call them sparrows," says a voice in the trailer. "That's what she is."
At the beginning of the trailer, Lawrence perches on a bed, wearing a shimmering red dress as a clock ticks. Seconds later, a male voice asks her to remove the dress.
Lawrence is also seen sitting with a gun to her head, as well as in less intense scenes where she is seen walking along the edge of a pool or standing inside a train.
Red Sparrow hits theaters March 2, 2018 and co-stars Joel Edgerton, Mary-Louise Parker, Jeremy Irons, Matthias Schoenaerts.
It also features Ukrainian dancer Sergei Polunin, who was the youngest-ever principal dancer at Britain's Royal Ballet. But you may also know him from the viral video featuring him dancing to Hozier's Amen.
