Collier County Public Schools recognized Outstanding School Volunteer Award recipients for the 2014-2015 school year.

The honorees received their good news in surprise visits this week from Superintendent Kamela Patton.

Theresa Gibbons of Tommie Barfield Elementary was selected as the district's Senior Outstanding School Volunteer.

"It has been said that actions speak louder than words, and for me, Mrs. Gibbons is truly the epitome of what makes my classroom run so efficiently," says Cheryl Reinke, teacher at Tommie Barfield Elementary.

Gibbons has spent more than eight years volunteering with the school district.

She will be recognized at the regular school board meeting on May 12.
