If Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield wins the Heisman Trophy on Saturday, it is expected that he would be honored in another way in Norman, Okla.

The Sooners pay tribute to their Heisman Trophy winners with statues in Heisman Park, across from the football stadium. Should Mayfield win, he is expected to be honored with a statue, joining five previous OU Heisman winners: Billy Vessels, Steve Owens, Billy Sims, Jason White and Sam Bradford.

A group of Oklahoma students and fans already has an idea about how Mayfield's statue should look.

The students created a change.org petition — that has now surpassed 4,000 signatures — asking the university that Mayfield's statue depict him planting an Oklahoma flag.

Mayfield -- who punctuated his Heisman case last weekend in leading the Sooners to the Big 12 title over TCU -- planted Oklahoma's flag on Ohio State's logo after beating the Buckeyes on Sept. 9. He later apologized for the gesture.

Mayfield, a Heisman finalist in 2016 as well, is this year's Heisman favorite, while Stanford running back Bryce Love and Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson (last year's winner) are also finalists. The award will be presented Saturday in New York.

On the season, Mayfield had 4,340 yards passing and 41 touchdowns with just five interceptions.
