This is a mental health issue, not just a character flaw. Pathological narcissists are dangerous because they look normal and even intelligent. It is this disguise that makes them treacherous. Today the Democrats have placed all their hopes in Obama. But this man could put an end to their party. The great majority of blacks voted for Obama. The white supremacists will take advantage of the discontent and they will receive widespread support. I predict that in less than four years, racial tensions will increase to levels never seen since the turbulent 1960's. Obama will set the clock back decades. America is the bastion of freedom. The peace of the world depends on the strength of America, and its weakness translates into the triumph of terrorism and victory of rogue nations. It is no wonder that Ahmadinejad, Hugo Chavez, the Castrists, the Hezbollah, the Hamas, the lawyers of the Guantanamo terrorists, and virtually all sworn enemies of America are so thrilled by the prospect of their man in the White House. The issues were insignificant compared to what is at stake. What can be more dangerous than having a man bereft of conscience, a serial liar, and one who cannot distinguish his fantasies from reality as the leader of the free world? I hate to sound alarmist, but one is a fool if one is not alarmed. Many politicians are narcissists. They pose no threat to others. They are simply self-serving and selfish. Obama evidences symptoms of pathological narcissism, which is different from the run-of-the-mill narcissism of a Richard Nixon or a Bill Clinton for example. To him reality and fantasy are intertwined.

If an issue raised in the Senate does not help Obama in one way or another, he has no interest in it. The "present" vote is a safe vote. No one can criticize him if things go wrong. Those issues are unworthy by their very nature because they are not about him. Obama's election as the first black president of the Harvard Law Review led to a contract and advance to write a book about race relations. The University of Chicago Law School provided him a lot longer than expected and at the end it evolved into, guess what? His own autobiography! Instead of writing a scholarly paper focusing on race relations, for which he had been paid, Obama could not resist writing about his most sublime self. He entitled the book Dreams from My Father.

Like I said before, I did not see the scope of work, or inspect the problems, so I assume you are correct, and have a similar construction background to mine.
The Devil is always in the details, and if we have people doing inspections who are not familiar with them, we will continue to see issues with City projects as simple as new sidewalks.

I have not seen a scope of work for the project, and base my assumption on the above remarks by happyhorwitz34145.
For example, the “shoddy concrete work” is a result of the rebar not being coated, and set to high in the concrete. The concrete coverage over steel rebar is a minimum of 1.5 inches to prevent salt from coming in contact with the steel which causes the steel to rust and swell resulting in spawling.
This item, and the others mentioned are a result of “shoddy inspection”, and could have been prevented.
I'm sure he will live large for the rest of his life on "We the Peoples" tax funded pension, just like the rest of the leaches.

None of the problems you are sighting are “Structural”, but rather a result of poor inspection practices during the construction process, which I assume falls on the shoulders of someone working for the City.
The same non-structural problems exist with the Smokehouse Bay Bridge which “We the People” are about to spend over $11M to replace it.
Even if it cost ten times as much to repair the Smokehouse Bay Bridge that is being spent on the Barfield bridge, “We the People” will save $10M, and not be taking a detour for over one year.
Dimas Maldanado was not just a “Naples Man”, because he was a hard working “Marco Man” as well.
In fact, Dimas was on his way to work the midnight shift as a Bellman at the Marriott, where he has been employed for 20 years, or so, and leaves two children behind.
He will be missed by his family, hotel staff, and guests as well.
The driver responsible for this tragedy needs to be held accountable for his untimely death.

If you ask a home builder, you will find there are differences between MICA, and the City codes, such as setbacks that cause problems, and need to be worked out.
One would also think MICA would become involved in the Smokehouse Bridge cost issue, and try to help "We the People", like the "unknown person" who brought it to the attention of the Council.

This A**H*** has Islam posted on his Facebook page as his religion, which brings up a very important point about the latest trend in our Once Great Country, called DIVERSITY. In fact, I believe Obama used this term in his remarks last night.
In my opinion, “We the People” need to decide if we want to be a Christian Nation, as originally intended, or do we want to become an Islamist Nation, because it should be apparent to everyone by now, that the two do not mix.
Let’s get past the positive and negative farewells to Mr. Riviere and start to focus on his replacement.
I believe “We the People” have an opportunity to become an example of how government in general can and should operate, by not hiring an individual with “government” experience, but rather an individual with “business” experience.
This should be someone willing to work for a percentage of what he or she cuts from our over inflated budget only, without any typical government “perks” like double dipping, pensions, etc.
This should be someone who places the good of the people of Marco Island first and foremost, and does not care if she or he wins a popularity contest, or uses Marco Island as a stepping stone for the next job.
I believe there are many successful business people on this Island that are retired, or active in a business that fit this mold, and it’s just a question of who is willing to sacrifice some of their time for the good of the People.
We can all thank 1P for bringing this bridge over cost issue out in the open, and hopefully bring it to a cost effective conclusion.

You bring up an excellent point, and I will check it out through the structural engineer in Naples who designed it, and see if he was asked for any input on Smokehouse Bridge, which should be changed to the Blue Smoke and Mirrors Bridge.
