Written on MICA: Which City Council Candidate should you vote for?:

I only have three questions for the City Council candidates:

Assuming I am a member of the Council, and I make a motion to disolve Cityhood:

1. Who would second my motion???

2. Who would vote for the motion???

3. Who would vote against the motion???

Written on Dead boater off Marco apparently suffered heart attack:

My condolences to the family of a great "Marco Old Timer". Its everyones dream to pass on doing what you love, and not suffering.

It appears to me, based on their comments, the writers above you also love "crabbing", but I find it in bad taste.

Written on Marco police briefs:

WOW!!!! Our cops sure are busy.

No wonder they can't spare the time to direct traffic at Collier and Bald Eagle.

Last Friday, the inbound traffic was backed up to Capri Blvd., and outbound to Tigertail.

I forgot to mention, Agami seems like real SCHMUCK.

OY VEY, the City is going MESHUGGA!!!!!!!!!

Written on Bill Moss named new Naples city manager:

The departure of Mr. Moss should be viewed as an opportunity for the newly elected members of City Counsel to re-think our entire process of government, and why we need 200 employees.

Marco Island consists of seventeen (17) square miles and according to the 2004 census has aprox. 16,000 residents.

For the sake of argument, lets assume we are 60% single family, 30% condominium and 10% commercial.

Therefore, aprox. 5,000 residents live in Condominiums and are regulated by State law and Boards of Directors, and require little or no involvement by the City.

Business is also regulated by other means.

This leaves aprox. 11,000 people living in aprox. 5,500 single family homes which seem to be the most affected by City government and its 200 employees, which breaks down to 28 City employees per home.

We, the people, need to re-examine our needs, because there is no way I can justify the existing system we have allowed to build over the last 10 years.

Written on Single family home record sale price again eclipsed on Marco Island:

Can we all stop bickering long enough to see the real picture here as it relates to our real estate market????

The house was put on the market in June 2004 at $17.9M and reduced to 11M at the time of the sale for 9M, or 25% less than the asking price, and 0.50 cents on the dollar from the original price.

I believe it sold for or perhaps less than replacement value.

This is indicative of a bad market, and I'm sure the VanHoesen's are happy to have it off their back.

Written on By the numbers: Local expert offers his take on the real estate market by looking at figures:

I always get a kick out of how someone becomes an "Expert" by appearing in the media spouting what has been common knowledge for the last three years.

Let's ask this "Expert" one question:

What part did your previous employment with the "Bored of Realtors", and your current employment with WCI play in creating this problem???

Remember, "Your either a part of the problem, or a part of the sulution". Let the reader decide.

Written on Construction arm of Marco-based real estate firm files Chapter 11:

As the Good (Legal) Book says in Chapter 11, Verse 7, screw thy Neighbor as you would screw your Sub Contractors.

But don't worry folks, religion #3 is on the way.

Your wounds will be healed, your gold and silver will be returned and you will be saved by the grace of: "Screw'um, Blue'em and Tatoo'em.

If you believe it, sip some more Kool Aide.

Word has Remax is about to pull the Holy Man's franchise.

Written on Marco Walk almost in compliance, says Olmsted:

Putting ten, or so, people out of work over 470 sf of space does not make economic sense.

Also, putting five new "positions" in the new City Budget, does not make economic sense, but that is the reality of "Government Thinking", or the lack of it.

If the City used it head, it would realize that a majority of Marco Walk customers walk to it.
