The data above includes single family homes located in Naples that are listed in the Marco Island MLS. There have been dozens of lower priced foreclosed properties sold in Naples that are being included in the median price calculation. If you were to look at homes located on Marco Island only, the actual median price for January 2009 is %467,000. As I am not sure what significance the median price has on anything, I would like to point out that the average single family home sale on Marco Island only in January of 2009 was $805,000 compared to $1,048,000 in January of 2008, this represents a 23% decrease. Unfortunately, it would seem that the author based her article on a report that did not spell out the locale of the properties contained in it.

I am a Realtor on Marco Island responding for myself. I am not responding here on behalf of the Marco Island Area Association of Realtors or it's board. I am simply trying to correct some incorrect information

First, our children are precious and I can assume that only a bottomhole without kids would make a comment such as yours. Why do you choose to work for a newspaper on lily white Marco Island? Is it because you got a lousy education and can't get a job with a major newspaper? In a day and age where we now have a black president it's sad to see you play the race card. Even you should be able to understand that most parents want what is best for their children and sending them to a D rated school certainly falls short of that. So stir the racial pot some more and go for the cheap and easy out. Obviously you miss the point of why many Marco Island parents want an excellent education for their precious children, it is so they won't grow up like you.
