Deal with it. I know it's hard to scrape by with just $50 million in profit, but maybe you can scrimp and save. Clip coupons. Car pool. Have a garage sale. I know you'll get by somehow.

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it"

Did you ever hear the term in America "WE WILL NEVER FORGET"!

World War II resulted in the deaths of over 70 million people, in total - making it the deadliest conflict in human history.

Those figures include about 20 million soldiers and 50 million civilians, in all.
Of these, Hitler personally ordered ordered the cold-blooded slaughter of approximately six million European Jews.

He also exterminated another 6 millions (including the disabled and mentally ill, Soviet POWs, homosexuals, Catholics, Freemasons and Jehovah's Witnesses) for being "unworthy of life".

My father before passing told me what the Germans did to the French women as they retreated back to Germany. It's something that I can not write in this paper. Now I will never forget!

Mr. K the Germans, your brothers were barbarians!

You said "Even in WWII the freedom of America was never in jeopardy".

That my friend is BS and you know it! If it was not for America we would be goose steeping down the street as the whole world was involved.

Mr K. says.. So build your own history and be happy. What's your history, any family of yours swear the oath to the fuhrer? If they didn't they would be dead... Correct?

If Hitler got the Bomb first, people like you would be in charge..

Thank God for all of us that did not happen!

BTW... I agree with you as EDDIE is selective on which laws should be enforced. I notice he likes the ones where he thinks he's going to make a buck!

We're all brothers (and sisters) in the human race, brother! Are all white guys evil because Hitler was a white guy? Are all Austrians evil because Hitler was Austrian? Are all Americans evil because Charlie Manson was American?

There's not any particular race or nationality that is worse or better than the others.

Except to a racist.

Nobody's taking away your guns. Limiting the types of weapons allowed to be used by the citizens has already been in effect, in case you didn't realize.

Last I checked, surface-to-air missiles are banned. So are tanks. And hand grenades. Are your panties in a bunch about those, too?

Do you LIKE seeing mass murders and cop-killings? Because, other than making the impotent feel powerful, that's what assault rifles and high-capacity magazines are all about.

As Ronald Reagan said, "I do not believe in taking away the right of the citizen for sporting, or hunting, and so forth, or for home defense. But I do believe that an AK-47, a machine gun, is not a sporting weapon or needed for defense of the home."

Written on Letter to the Editor: Big difference:

in response to Sparky100:

MRZ333, You are so, so very wrong. NO responsible gun owner has ever or will ever think their weapon is a toy. I was taught to shoot by my farther. His lesson number one which I will never forget even today was this weapon is not a toy, this weapon can and will kill someone. Michael is spot on with his assumption that the problem is with the mentally ill, not the weapon. More people are killed by knives, clubs and bats annually than by assault “weapons” by a 4 to 1 ratio. Do you think we should ban all knives, clubs and baseball bats, no. The mental health industry does need to be more proactive in identifying these people.

But assault weapons account for a higher share of murders of police officers and mass public shootings than knives, clubs, and baseball bats.

As Ronald Reagan said, "I do not believe in taking away the right of the citizen for sporting, or hunting, and so forth, or for home defense. But I do believe that an AK-47, a machine gun, is not a sporting weapon or needed for defense of the home."

Written on Gun resolution and city manager performance appraisal on the docket for future Marco Island City Council meetings :

To all you anti gun supporters. Over history it has been proven it does not work. Nothing good comes out of disarming law abiding citizens. If you want a present day example just look at Chicago. A city with one of the most strict gun control laws in the country, just look at their murder rate. I have said it before "If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns". Really do we want the Marco gang to be the only armed ones on the island.

Written on Letter to the Editor: Toughen laws; don’t take away Constitutional rights:

You sound like you think Obama wants to take away ALL guns - if that's what you really think, you're...well, misinformed (to be polite).

We are already not allowed to own bazookas, flame-throwers, surface-to-air missiles, hand grenades, and automatic weapons. Where do you draw the line?

It seems to me that the frequency of mass killings in recent years would indicate that high-capacity magazines and military style assault weapons in the hands of the populace might actually make us less safe.

Written on Could Connecticut school shooting be impetus for change in gun-control laws?:

It's not the gun's fault. It also wasn't a bat's fault that Babe Ruth hit all those home runs. But if he didn't have a bat, he wouldn't have hit ANY home runs.

We already have gun control - nobody is allowed to have automatic weapons, grenades, bazookas, tanks, or heat-seeking missiles. Where do you draw the line? I think the line should be pulled back to where these incidents are not so easy to commit. Hunters can still hunt; people can still protect themselves. But people don't really need access to assault rifles.

It isn't solely a mental health issue, although that certainly is a big part of this tragedy. But until we completely eliminate the mental health issue, howzabout we stop having assault weapons so readily available? Seems to me we'd all be safer. Common sense.

Did you see it happen? thought so:) why were the police called? I barely know him. But you as everyone else is protecting him. He chocked a kid let's see the video from the corner of the school? So all these parents think thier kid is going PRO because Mike coached them, not one of them as they are to much like you... and yes if a teacher does soemthing s----- they hang from a tree. If your kid fails the FCAT it is the teachers fault.(right?) if your kid strikes out in a baseball game it is the coaches fault.. Right? you protecting your child from the world.. it is your fault. If your kid can't read it is the teacher's fault? NOT.. Start parenting and get off the teachers butts let your kid protect him or herself? If that coach hit my kid i would be in jail right now speaking to you from a phone with a polyglass wall between us. sorry but do what is right....

Did you see it happen? Thought so. So why are you ready to hang the guy from a tree? Innocent until proven guilty in America, bigfish.

And no, he didn't "chock" the kid. He put his hand on his shoulder, according to all parties who were there to witness it.

Written on Vanderjagt confirmed as Academy football coach; Parents, students support Vanderjagt in getting Charter coaching job back :

Anybody who sees the Lely coach as giving the player an "atta boy" has an obvious bias. He smacked him!

Mike put his hand on the kid's shoulder, something that I would guess happens every day in classrooms everywhere - and the teachers don't end up "hanging from a tree." It does not constitute an assault, and it does not warrant being banned from coaching.

The people behind and pushing MIA are a bunch of elitist jerks. Thanks for bringing your modular mess, along with more traffic and noise, to the area.

No, we're not. Some might be, but not all...certainly not most.

Some of us want to send our kids to a school in our own community, instead of busing them to the next town. Others think an 8:30am start time makes more sense, or fits into their daily schedule better. Others like the curriculum and focus on STEM. Others want their kids to be able to participate on sports teams, which they might not be able to do at a larger school. Others like the student-teacher ratio, with more opportunities for individualized instruction.

To categorize all of us with one broad stroke is absurd, just as it would be to say that everybody who chooses to live on Marco Island is an elitist jerk because of the lack of diversity here.

Again, I wonder why there isn't this type of animosity to parents who choose to send their kids to the other charter school on the island, instead of sending them to Manatee Middle School. Why aren't they called elitist jerks?
