Well said Mr. Green. It's how many of us feel. Not a fan of Thompson and not surprised he got fired. It's not that Thompson got fired it's the way he got fired; no public notice and they already had a interim city manager picked out. Looks very suspect!
You’ve all been duped – Arceri was one of the main architects’ of this whole thing while Recker and Magel were just willing worker bees. While you all relish in the unnecessary character assassination of Steve Thompson you are falling into the hands of the one you all hate the most. You are all a bunch of blind fools, blinded by the sight of a casualty. Thompsons quote says it all:
“this is a very difficult community by anyone’s standards,” said Thompson. “Council plays to that negativity and it’s difficult to overcome that.”
You are all so driven by hatred and drama! Recker and Magel played to the vocal minority but the victory goes to Arceri. Stay tuned….

Shadow, you say Magel won't represent the rest of the folks, how do you justify Kiester and Fortchs votes for the last two years? The majority soundly told them by their votes for the pro-sewer candidates that they wanted the island sewered yet Kiester and Fortch continued to vote against the sewers. If there was just one more candidate running for office Kiester would also be out of a job now. Kiester and Fortch have not represented the majority, they have not represented all the residents of Marco Island -- they represented a small vocal minority and, as the two lowest vote getters, the voters told them that at the polls!
Really Russ...do you really believe all of this nonsense about bullet voting? I placed three votes by choice because as an American I chose to vote for three candidates. By the same token I could have chose to vote for one candidate, it's my right as a citizen to choose who I vote for. Honestly, there were not a lot of choices on the ballot; some of you blowhard know it alls should have ran for office.
Magel won fair and square by a longtime strategy called bullet voting. It is as old as Democracy itself but some of you just don't like the results. It's no different than asking the electorate to vote for a slate of candidates just as Mr. Columbo did two years ago! Some of you are so wrapped up in yourselves that you don't realize how childish you look and sound. You lost "AGAIN" so please throw away those sour grapes and move on!
Banker411, I sincerely feel bad for the investors and employees but Richard Storm, Sr. and his self serving arrogant board drove this bank into ruins. The negative comments are not directed at the employees but rather the senior staff and board of directors (perhaps you are one of them!). The stories of their deceit, questionable loans and questionable activities I hope will lead to a complete investigation from the Feds. They called themselves a community bank but nothing could be further from the truth; they treated some loan customers like dirt! Community Banks don't throw single mothers out of their homes and sell the property to the father of one of the board members for less than she offered to buy the home for. Truly despicable people running this bank, if it wasn't for the employees and innocent shareholders who were duped into buying stock I would be happy right now.
Flowerpower I agree with you, Kiester showed that he can leave opinions and politics behind him and voted for the naming. He showed courage and class. I bet he is taking a lot of heat from some of his supporters for his vote. I was never really a fan of Tuckers myself but he did do a lot for the city. Certainly a lot more than all of us bloggers combined. This is what politicians do, they name buildings and parks after people. Chuck Kiester cemented my vote for him. Good luck Mr. Kiester.

Watch for yourself.
Just watched the interchange between Popoff and Glaub (link above). Popoff did not ask for Glaub to be removed from the meeting. He gave ample warning and finally asked the Police Chief to escort him back to his seat since his four minutes were up and Glaub was still talking. Watch for yourself.
Councilor Kiester, just remember not to worry until they stop talking about you! Issler, Granda and Putnam (whatever side they are on) are keeping your name in the public and that's what get's politicians elected. Just keep up the good work and ignore these imbiciles!
I agree Mr. Kiester, tactics like Isslers will only help you to get re-elected. On the other hand, jwputnam isn't helping you one bit; he's even arguing & name calling with your supporters! If you know him I would have a serious talk with him!!
John Putnam, your involvement in Mr. Kiesters campaign can only hurt him. If you want him to win, stop writing LTE's and blogs on his behalf. He will get elected without your assistance. I mean this sincerely as I would like to see him get re-elected.
