Written on Private well owners in Collier urged to boil water:

NDN moved this article from the main paper to Marco Island Eagle site and did not reference any of the comments. Clever censorship NDN.

The last statement in the article from Collier County HD is the one to pay particular attention to.

NDN, thought you didn't believe in censorship...LOL

Written on Stormwater improvement gets boost from SFWMD:

Shame on you Hawke1, you are a logical, thoughtful person who apparently is capable of critical thinking. Tears and Joel both abhor people like you (and hopefully me!)

Written on Marco Island’s divisive campaign issue: Sewer system or septic tanks?:

FDEP cannot mandate sewers. This agency like any other state agency MUST operate within state statute and administrative code. There is no provision for this agency or any other to MANDATE anything. They can recommend but not mandate.

Get your story straight.

Written on Marco Island’s divisive campaign issue: Sewer system or septic tanks?:

The "experts" ALL have an agenda. As someone else pointed out, only one has zoology degree the others are administrative bureaucrats.

Someone else mentioned how central sewers also make it far easier for development to increase density and put in megahomes, highrises, mixed use commercial and even industrial development. This is true and guess what...with that kind of change the fifedom of Joel and his ilk grows bigger and their fees can increase almost at will.

It isn't "inevitable"...it could be if the fight for honesty is abandoned.

Written on Marco Island’s divisive campaign issue: Sewer system or septic tanks?:

When the new slate is installed and uproots the misdirected STRP, they also need to get rid of Roney Joel and his henchwoman, Lisa Douglas.
Maybe Arceri needs to go on a fishing trip in the backwaters. I know just the guide.

Written on Letter to the editor: Misuse of data:

dcrain, your background is interesting, but do you know the soil profiles of this area? Do you understand how septic systems work and they DO work quite well...
In Florida (not illinois) our waste water treatment plants have a FAIRLY good record, but they do pollute (EVEN DEP admits this) because the pipes leak.
When you (if you) move to Florida you may want to read our statutes, visit plants and see how systems are designed.

Sounds like you are just trying to obscure the issues Mr. Neylon has covered.

Written on Here’s the kicker: Former NFL star is Marco sewer program holdout:

Flowerpower/AKA Ms. Douglas or are you Joel or Miller?

Written on EPA issues formal letter to City of Marco Island:

About time EPA stepped in on worthless DEP and City Hall.

Written on Bill Moss named new Naples city manager:

Perhaps Moss will take MS. Douglass with him. The air will be fresher, atmosphere cleared when her bullying tactics are off the island.

Written on Gardening: There’s a right way to fertilize:

You don't have to fertilize the Beautyberry shrubs. Actually, if you plant native plants instead of the other exotics AND plant them in the right place you will not need to fertilize them either (EVER). Guess what, you will do a lot to prevent run-off into our waterways if you follow this advice. Fertilizer keeps Cargill happy, not your native plants.

Florida Native Plant Society has a Naples Chapter. Why not join and prevent pollution by learning how you too can avoid fertilizing.

Written on Marco Island City Council to get presentation on copper corrosion:

What about type K Joel? Is the dissolved O2? Ah, this utility dept. just seems to rippen with age, but not like gourmet cheese or fine wine: more like fish left on the sands of Tigertail.

Written on Marco Island shuts down dewatering for lift station:

H2S is likely to be found on all of Marco.

Written on Marco City Council nixes additional H2S tests:

Mr. Foster, do you believe Roney Joel? Wonder if you could get a straight answer from DEP?

Written on Marco City Council nixes additional H2S tests:

Marcoite, think you are right, but now what happens on Marco stays on Marco. (or gets hidden here)

Written on Victims of contaminated fish released from hospital:

Javig, if you have an argument with what Ms. Millsap had to say about ciguatera you need to check this information published by the Florida Dept of Health (state agency) to which the County locations report.
http://www.doh.state.fl.us/environmen...

or go to the CDC site:
http://www.cdc.gov/nceh/ciguatera/

I am sure the state and federal experts on this marine toxin would be interested in your opinion.

Written on Victims of contaminated fish released from hospital:

Jayig...I agree the CCHD needs to put out credable information, however, the condition needs to be reported TO the health department. The condition isn't normally common in Florida, however.

So what is reportable TO the health department?

http://www.doh.state.fl.us/disease_ct...

You can see what diseasses or conditions have been reported by week for this year by checking the 2007 Disease Tables
http://www.doh.state.fl.us/disease_ct...

It is more common in other parts of the world, but as you can see by looking at the tables above this year it has increased.
Weekly Disease Tables of Reportable Diseases

For more information about why the burden is on the practitioner and how diseases are investigated:

What makes people seek medical advice with ciguatera often is the reversal of the reaction to hot and cold.

Written on City Council: Stop dewatering until city knows more:

The Governor's office has no information on what Issler reports. He can't even write good fiction!

Written on City Council: Stop dewatering until city knows more:

Ed Foster wrote: "I wasn't aware that central sewer plants were designed to treat the hydrosulfurous acid, sulfides and sulfates in our undground water. I had always thought they were designed to treat "poop" and other organic materials, not inorganic acids. Methinks that this is another attempt at covering up a problem by moving it elsewhere."

Yep, Ed you are right. Not only that but considering how leaky these old sewer lines are...well you can guess the rest. Rony Joel and Jim Miller (the manager of this mess) are acting like consultants instead of the best interest of citizens. They don't understand waste water treatment OR septic systems. Miller worked for the Health Dept.supervising the septic program, but was way over his head. (my guess as to why he left...unless he planned on working there for a while and then rejoining his old coworkers (Moss and Joel) on Marco from the beginning.) He had no idea of what he was doing then. He still doesn't.

I have a s(t)inking feeling about this. I still don't understand why the Doctor in charge of the Health Dept. didn't make a better case to stop all of this. She lives on Marco, so maybe there is some pressure on her? Still public health is at stake. I didn't go to the meeting. Did she at least talk about how the levels found affect health?

Written on None:

Calusa, now that the results are in showing levels of this gas which exceeds health and safety standards, (and this means it causes people to become ill), do you want some ketchup with your serving of crow?

Written on None:

When he goes...Joel and Douglas (and the others in their cabal) need to move along as well.

Written on ENVIRON presents findings to Marco City Council on Tuesday:

Good idea lowus, I can envision a requirement for structures or vehicles to have masks which drop down when the levels rise too high.

Written on DiSciullo sends appeal to Marco City Council to stop dewatering:

marco, it isn't just about smelling bad. This stuff can kill you. The ones most likely to suffer health effects are individuals with respiratory compromise (asthmatics, people with COPD and or congestive heart failure) no matter what the age. However as many who live on Marco are retirees, they are at even greater risk related to their age. How it affects wildlife is another matter. Animals (wild and pets) could have even a higher risk for death if exposed to this off gassing long enough and in areas of higher concentration.
