I think it’s terrible that a few boaters are specifically targeted by local governments. This appears to be nothing more than a tool to keep boats away from some folks who want to live on the water, but don’t want to look at a few boats. I guess if you have enough money you can control who surrounds you by owning local government and controlling local ordinances.
It’s obviously not a pollution issue as they have not enacted laws preventing storm water run off and controlling fertilizer use on lawns within 300 feet of adjoining waterways. They should, and could enact a reasonable law defining and prohibiting abandoned/derelict vessels. It’s an easy law and could be very similar to the abandoned vehicle laws that they tag on the side of the road.
