It was not Bush Sr. nor Jr. who deserve the credit nor did they take credit in the way that Barack "I did this and I did that" Obama. A real honest to goodness narcissist, if there ever was one, since the 1930s and 1940s of course. It was the men and women in our military who performed as they did and performed with great honor. The only thing great about Obama was that America made a great error in electing him. The man did not want to salute the American Flag when he was campaigning for the 2008 election, but stood there holding his family jewels when others where saluting.

I can not insult Obama and Biden any more than they have already insulted themselves. The insult that I am concerned with is the one that they have caused America in the eyes of the rest of the World. Obama will be remembered as the biggest "do nothing president along with his side-kick Biden". Tell me that he killed Bin Laden once again, I wish to hear that one more time. All he did was to carry on what others prepared before him and claimed credit as though he did it all by his little own self. What a complete phoney, an embaressment to the honorable position of President, no more, no less. Did you bother reading Axelrod's letter of covering Obama's tail if the capture or killing of Bin Laden failed.
"It wasn't my fault, it was theirs" very well could have been his quote if that happened. Lucky we have a wonderful military, no credit to Obama.

Oh! and his new campaign slogan "Forward", let us do nothing for another 4 years, but dip into your children and grandchildren's pockets. NEWS CORRECTION:

The felon recieved 41% of the ballot, Obama received 59%. The felon actually won in several counties of the state and received one delegate for the DNC. Not as HUGE as I previously thought. BUT, can you believe those Democrats...41% of them voting for a convicted felon.

Every property owner who was effected by the, apparent, outright lack of consideration that Tucker exhibited during City Council meetings, or may have been effected by the irresponible dumping of asbestos at Veteran's park, or were put off by his admitted lie regarding such, should sign a petition to remove his name from our City Hall.

It is an insult to the people of Marco Island to have to see that man's name on the building in which he carried out some of these activities.

Yes, I hope there is a substantial change in which our councilors took part in the way that the naming of City Hall took place. A quick, sneaky, vote when few others were aware, is not in the manner our Council should act.

When they named the city hall we also named our lift station after Tucker. A real POS that was full of himself!

I guess when you become older, you do not wish to spend the energy and valuable time on fighting "City Hall".

The syndicate is well aware of this and has been able to do just about anything they can get away with. Notice that important issues that require a vote or input by the citizenry comes up too often when many are back up north.

It still irritates many to no end why city hall was named after Tucker, especially on the "spur of the moment" vote, by the councilors involved.

There is nothing flawed in a rate table that takes into account cost of service. LCEC does the same.
And if someone thinks that Hotels on the Island should pay the same rate as a condo or homeowner, that is absurd. There is a curve that illustrates cost versus use and it confirms the City's rates.
But it is always good to hear from those few that always chime in with the same opinions, as do I.

I will suggest that homeowner's should pay less than hotels and an equal rate to condo owner's.

Hotels are here using our facilities to make a profit on their investments. Their expense for water is therefore tax deductable giving them an even lower actual cost. The homeowner or condo owner on the other hand has to cough up the full amount for the water he is paying without any benefit of a tax deduction.

For this matter alone the hotels should pay a higher rate and should not be subsidized by the homeowners, many of which are on fixed incomes.

Anything that takes away more from the homeowner is therefore flawed and completely unfair.

You are "right on" in your assessment of city councilors. As you said some of their own finances are perfectly screwed up, may not be paying city taxes from their own money and they are controlling the taxes that we have to pay. Why would someone in their right mind want to put that person back in office and for what rational reason?

The problem on this island and what has made it easy for Arceri's cronies to get away with this has been the fact that many of our voters are part timers and with many seniors, involved in their own health issues due to age and do not find the time or have the energy to put forth the effort that is needed. Many are here to comfortably spend thier retirement years and may not want to get "involved'.

City Hall's method was wear out those seniors, they feel that these people will give up in time and when it came to the STRP that is exactly what happened.

Now we have another Condo dweller vs. Home owner issue. You can be as sure as the sun comes up every day that City Hall will use the divide and conquer method of management and once again do what they have to in order to get their agenda thru.

Maybe this year's elections will make a difference, I surely hope so.

6 years ago, I moved my wife and 3 kids to Marco. That lasted 8 months and we moved back to Michigan. Worst mistake we ever made. I am presently looking for work around Marco/Naples so we can move back to Marco. Only problem is, nobody will give me the time of day and give me an opportunity, no matter how qualified I am. My parents do have a condo on Marco at the South Seas Towers. The people are not that friendly there on Marco. That is true. Most tend to think that they should be separated from the rest of the United States population and civilization itself. However, we didnt move there for the people. We love it there because its a beautiful place, year around. I hope to get back there soon because I really miss Porkys and Joeys. Now Im bummed.

If you met Klaus, you wouldn't want to come back, at all, not even for Porky's or Joey's. Thank your lucky stars for that.

That being said, good luck in your employment search. It is terribly difficult for someone to find a job here and be able to make ends meet, especially with a family to care for.

Mary, did you look in advance what Marco provided for visitors. Where does it say that this beautiful island was some kind of boardwalk city? As far as the residents here, I have rarely met such pleasant, unassuming, people anywhere else in my life and I have traveled to many places both in the U.S. and Europe.

If you wished to fish, there are plenty of charter boats you could have taken. Where did you see that we had to provide you with a place to fish and a toilet? We do not have that provided for ourselves. Did you think that the cost of that was free because you mostly likely rented a condo or house?

The people you met were probably some of the other visitors to the island who come here with the attitude that they own the place when they drive, push their way into store lines etc.

Fair and equitable have not been part of our Councilors actions for many years. What makes anyone think that they are going to change their ways now?

Homeowners have been subsidizing Condos and Hotels.

Do condo owners pay a lower kwh rate structure for individual units than homeowners pay? I do not know the answer to this. If they don't and I do not believe that they do then why are they paying less for water?

I disagree with your assessment that the above discussion has nothing to do with Obama. The man sat for 20 years in a church where Rev. Wright spewed hatred towards white people, Jews and whoever else he in his mind was the reason for blacks being where they are.

Hitler did the same and was "accepted" by his followers which in turn led to the holocaust. I am not saying that a holocaust will again occur, but the Obama's did nothing to stop or remove themselves from Wright's rhetoric.

Chas. Lindburg and Henry Ford had unclean hands, too, but they were not holding the office of President of the United States.

No, never once did I hear that Obama or his wife stood up to Rev. Wright. Nor have I been able to read the thesis that either did for their college degrees. Which have been hidden from public view, WHY?
