Written on City contracts firm to monitor H2S:

I'll tell you why it's going to take 60-90 days of monitoring to get results....stall tactic. 90 days and the N. Barfield district will be nearly finished. There's no reason why they wouldn't have definitive data within a few days. Just the City's spin again and another way to threaten the residents with another big bill to foot.

Good point Lolala. I don't see dewatering going on on Collier. There is no disgusting, yellow/brown water, no stink, but ALL construction would be shut down? Just another unfounded, "threat" of dire consequences by Moss and Joel to keep their pet projects going at any cost.

Written on Property tax cutback worse for Marco Island than expected; Collier’s tax cut exactly as planned:

Ooooh, poor City has to cut $2.5 mil? I'll shed a tear later. Let's see, buy half as many (blinding) fancy new street lights, half as much median landscaping (will grow in in no time), quit buying irrelevant sculptures, do SOMETHING with the Glon property that is probably costing millions? in debt service and the cut will be covered and then some. But no, threaten us with cuts in essential services (ESSENTIAL people!) and yet another hike in our basic utilities. Islanders are sure to love you then!

Written on Collier Blvd. construction: Some headaches to end, new ones to begin:

Another month and a half for the south of Smokehouse bridge section? Uhhhhh, wasn't that supposed to be done LAST December? Too busy buying and planting twice as many bushes in the median as they need instead of getting the road open. We live in S Florida guys.....that stuff grows in DAYS. That unlimited Marco budget at work.

Written on Collier County launches second phase of bridge survey:

Leave it to Marco news and politics to twist a tragedy like MN to try to scare people into thinking we now need another multi, multi million dollar project. Ms. Williams, you should be ashamed of your opening sentence. Give the people of that bridge collapse some respect and just report the story instead of making it all about Marco politics in the first line.

Written on City attorney rejects POP petition for referendum:

I'm not in support of the POP referendum petition, but still, let me get this straight....the City attorney rejected the petition because it had a “vague, misleading and uncertain” purpose? Are you kidding me? The fact that they have the nerve to print that after that joke of a STRP funding referendum is unreal. I knew what that referendum was for UNTIL I read that ballot. What a joke. So they were not legally able to change the funding without a referendum, but somehow, a defeated referendum AUTOMATICALLY was a yes vote for the water bill increase? How the hell did that happen? So I get a double digit hike on my already $150+ water bill and I don't even know yet how much my new "wonderful and ultra safe" sewer portion is going to be. Between electric and water/sewer, it's going to cost close to $400 a month for BASIC utilities on an average size house with two people! Don't we live in America? Wouldn't you think power and water should be among our more affordable costs of living? Pathetic. Guess they're not too worried about all those old people they kept saying they were concerned were going to get taxed out of their homes after all. Who's going to care about their tax bill when their utilities get shut off? And for what? To drive around and 4-wheel through torn up roads, standing water and traffic cones? Farewell My Paradise.....it was great while it lasted.
