Konfuzius isn't really far off the mark.

Most of the criticism attributed to Obama is nothing short of gossip over things which won't even make the history books.

As far as "leadership" goes: First his critics claim Obama shows no leadership; then when he DOES show leadership; his critics tell him to 'get out of the way'.

In the 60's we had recession, assassinations, riots in our cities and shootings on college campuses.
In the 70's Viet nam was plucking kids out of American neighborhoods to die in the Far East.
In the 80's Interest rates were at a record high and the Stock Market crashed twenty-five percent and took two years to recover.
In the 90's we invaded Iraq, upset the 'balance of power' in the Middle East which is leading to a nuclear Iran.
Not to mention the bodies and mutilations; both physical and mental; coming home from from Bush's "war on evil".

In the face of all that; this present doesn't seem so bad; regardless of all the GOSSIP.

The Obama Presidency may go down as one of the most docile in half a century.

As you said: Conservative viewpoints are always "comfortable" to espouse; and as I also said in my post: Unpopular views can pose a problem for those who challenge the conservative status quo.

And I don't need to be "anonymous"; I'm quite comfortable with my beliefs and signing my comments. Call me conservative, but I think all these results would be a good thing. Some of the worst things we, as a society, have done in the last 50 or 60 years is to get away from Christianity, prayer in schools and government, the Golden Rule, and Patriotism. Especially during this holiday season - doesn't anyone realize that you can't have Christmas without Christ? Don't any of you remember what Christmas is really all about? "Thinking" and challenging the rules is all well and good, but a society without rules is a lost society. If you can't hope and dream for a better place, a better good, a better future; what can you expect other than tyranny and anarchy? Merry Christmas, Mele Kalikimaka and Happy New Year - in Christ's name! Yours Truly, Bill Harris

A genuine conservative understands that Christianity and other organized religions are just fairy tales sold to adults and a scam perpetrated by sundry high priests & imams to fatten off the 10% they can cozen out of your God-Fearers & True Believers.

A real conservative would scan the demographics of the Obama Food Stamp Nation and then require forced abortion -- maybe even retroactive abortion -- for those welfare parasite broods seeking to languish off the earnings of the productive taxpayers.

A true conservative would also welcome your promotion of marriage, especially of Gay & Plural Nuptials.

A true conservative would realize that patriotism, as sold by the government & its stooges, is not merely the last refuge of scoundrels, but often the first....

Written on A secular season: Christian parents struggle with keeping children focused on Jesus, not Santa:

in response to MIOCENE1:

Here is what the young are not told in Bible School:

If Christ had cured a leper, a blind man and made the lame walk, etc; thousands of disease-ridden peasants from all over the Empire would have showed up to ask Christ to heal every ailment from an abscessed tooth to smallpox.

Reports would have circulated to all corners of The Empire and beyond, bringing in tens of thousands more; including the Jewish High Priests and the Roman Ruling Class.

Every Jew would have accepted Christ as their savior after impacted rotted teeth; in need of a present-day root canal; were miraculously cured by the touch of Christ.

The same with the RESURRECTION. It never happened. Occurrences of this too are only valid within its own scripture; meaning that there was no outside clarification from over three dozen recorders, historians, writers, poets and philosophers at that time.

Jesus was just considered one of a dozen or so religious zealots preaching throughout the Empire. Most no one paid any attention to him or them; as we pay no attention to them now.

Ancient contemporary mentions by SECULAR and Jewish historians would have been FILLED with such occurrences along with those in foreign lands.

You see: All the evidence of Christ as a miracle worker comes from internal scripture alone; SUBJECTIVE evidence. Like taking the “word“ of the used car salesman without outside clarification.

The miracles never happened. All these stories were made-up in the century AFTER the death of Christ by religious zealots who exaggerated and lied about the life of Christ in order to get in on the “GROUND FLOOR” of what they saw and hoped would be a new religious movement; to become part of the new “IN CROWD” in order to have power and control over the peasants; a process which the modern clergy continues to this day.

The PICTURE of Christianity was not formed 2000 years ago during the life of Christ as the clergy would have you believe.

It was put together like a jig-saw puzzle piece by piece over the centuries; each piece being a product of hallucination, exaggeration, self delusion, and lies.

A ghost speaking to Moses from a burning bush is a myth; an Arab being visited by an angel is a myth; and the biggest myth of all?

That Jesus was the son of a god.

"If we don't fight...then sooner or later we will be fighting it on our own ground. If you don't believe that, just remember 9/11."

>>> Since we'd already been fighting in Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Granada, Dominican Republic, Iraq, Kuwait, Bosnia, Haiti, Somalia, etc, why then did 9/11 happen at all?

>>> What area of the world did our rulers forget to attack in the 50 years prior to 9/11?

This statistic could be boosted by '1' if we get crook Congressman Travon Roodle to resign....

One may also wonder how many needless America lives were lost in Vietnam- how many America families suffered because politicians played a game of chess with their lives. The men and women who serve our country sign a blank check payable to the US for an amount up to and including their lives.

The war in Vietnam could have been over in 1 day if the politicians would have let the pilots bomb selected airfields - but such was not the case. The pilots were told they were not there to win the war. They were told they couldn’t fire on any target unless fired upon first. They went on missions the same time every day giving the opponent the advantage of knowing when to shoot first.

North Vietnamese killed 1,000,000 South Vietnamese in Vietnam after the US departed - another estimated 1,000,000 were killed trying to escape.

Pol Pot, Communist Dictator and leader of the Khmer Rouge, killed 3.5 million out of Cambodia’s total population of 8 million (see Killings fields.

This was a case of Communism vs Freedom Loving “Dissidents”. I doubt is Mr. PP cared if they were Christians or not.

Wayne Smith, a 24 year old pilot, spent 5 years and 2 months of torture and watched many of his class mates die while in captivity, did not engage civilians – he engaged Russian MIGs flown by Vietnamese pilots – as well as some Cubans- just so you have your facts straight.

So as you rest in peace over the holidays, reflect upon why you have the psychological freedom to enjoy this day with family and friends knowing they are safe– why you have the right to post anonymous blogs to express your views-
indeed Pray Ray that you continue to have this right.

You will continue to have this right as long as there are people like our Greatest Generation and subsequent Guardians of Liberty that serve a cause greatest than themselves.

So the next time “these old fools”, who preserved the Spirit of 1776 in 1945 by defeating the greatest tyranny the world has even known, need to doll themselves up and strut around to get their hearses kissed by the rest of the island”, I suggest you “reframe” your thinking.

See “Strutting” as walking the talk of being proud of who they are and paying tribute to a member of a very special group who has a very special bond – a bond that is only understood by those who have seen the battle field or served those who did.

In the words of those returning POWs of Vietnam who used a special code to stay in contact with each other so as not to allow the horror of what they faced bring them down …GBU…. God Bless You.

Enjoy your holiday knowing that somewhere out there, there is someone watching out for you on Earth just as there is someone watching over you from above.

"Naples resident Wayne Smith...fighter pilot flying his 90th combat mission"

Christianity came to Vietnam in the 1500s. It's estimated that ~ 10% of Vietnamese are Christians.

In these 90 missions during the undeclared war against the Vietnamese, one must wonder just how many Christian women and kids his bombs obliterated....
